Our mission is to protect and build the capacity of every Community Pharmacist in Nigeria to provide quality pharmaceutical and allied health services as responsible healthcare provider to clients and to collaborate with other Healthcare Providers, Policy Makers, Regulatory Agencies and other Stakeholders in the best interest of the populace. We are committed to empowering every Community Pharmacist to embrace Best Pharmacy Practice and collaborate with all stakeholders in the health sector to promote quality healthcare.
Its Lagos branch, representing over 2,000 community Pharmacies across Lagos city and its suburb, provides various community health services such as Retail Drug Dispensing services, Drug and Health Information & Awareness programs, Primary Healthcare services, Point of Care Services Health Referral services, Provision of Pharmaceutical Care which involves rational drug therapy monitoring, medication, counseling and therapeutic management services, and provision of Orphan and Vulnerable Drug services. We also organize Healthcare Missions to Communities, Provision of HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, STI and Reproductive Health Services to the Communities, and organizing of WHO important diseases days.
Through our selfless services, we have won the trust of our communities and become a point of reference for all consumers of healthcare services.
Our Story
Until recently, community pharmacies’ critical contributions in the primary healthcare ecosystem in Nigeria are hardly formally recognized, despite the very essential role we play in Nigeria’s primary healthcare system. In our challenged healthcare system, pharmacies are coming to the rescue of most communities in Nigeria by filling the gaps in everyday basic healthcare needs.
In Lagos, our member community pharmacies are rooted in the communities all around the city, which position us as the most accessible health care providers in Lagos state. Over the time, we expanded our impact as community leaders, actively involved in community-oriented public health, civic, and volunteer projects. Many hold local elected offices; others serve as state legislators and local government chairmen
On public policy issues that affect patients and pharmacy practice at both national and state levels, ACPN Lagos is the mouthpiece for community pharmacists. Whether it is in Lagos or its suburbs, ACPN Lagos plays a critical role, ranging from advocating for Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM) abuses, campaign against the rising cases of illicit drug consumption, to providing continuing support to pharmacists that aids best practices and more effective service delivery.
